Fees and sessions

Pricing structure for Discovery Day Nursery from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025

At Discovery Day Nursery we believe in open communication with all parents/carers and staff and are therefore presenting this fees structure in order to ensure that everyone fully understands our charging. Our fee structure is inclusive of drinks and snacks. Lunch can be provided at an additional cost or you can provide your own. We are open for 48 weeks per year, closing on Bank Holidays. Our fees do not include any outings, celebrations or entertainment that is in addition to our usual session activities.

Discovery Day Nursery charges a £20.00 registration fee to families accessing paid for sessions. This registration fee is non-refundable and must be paid when you accept your child’s place.

  • Any combination of the following sessions can be taken for 51 weeks of the year, excluding bank holidays. Hourly rate £6.40/hour

    Breakfast 8am to 9am

    1 hour childcare and breakfast = £7.40

    Morning session 9am to 12midday

    3 hours = £19.40 and snack

    Lunch 12midday to 1pm

    1 hour childcare and a hot lunch = £8.40

    Afternoon session 1pm to 4pm

    3 hours = £19.40 and snack

    Tea 4pm to 5pm

    1 hour childcare = £6.40

    All year 12 hours a week over 48 weeks - (please note this equates to 576 hours and will be capped at 570 hours)

    8am to 5pm - 6 hours funded session + £22.00 which includes 3 hours childcare, breakfast, morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch.

    (Any 2 days)

  • Up to 1140 hours a year can be taken:

    All year 24 hours a week over 48 weeks - (please note this equates to 1152 hours and will be capped at 1140 hours)

    8am to 5pm – 6 hour funded session + £22.00 which includes 3 hours childcare, breakfast, morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch.

    (Any 4 days)

Please note all funded sessions are subject to availability. Parents have the option to bring in a packed lunch, in line with the Nursery’s Healthy Eating policy. Fees which include a lunch cost will therefore be reduced by £2.00. Should you have any queries, relating to this fee structure, please do not hesitate to contact us.

ILLNESS/ABSENCE: No refund will be given in the event of a child’s absence due to illness, holiday or any other reason.

CLOSURES: Should the pre-school/nursery be unable to open due to bad weather or any other unforeseen circumstances, parents will be refunded for a chargeable session or have it discounted from their next invoice.  Should closure need to take place part way through a session, a refund will not be given in this instance.

LATE PICK UP:  Children must be collected promptly at the end of a session/day.  Should a parent fail to collect their child within 15 minutes of the session/day end, a late collection fee of £15 will be charged, and a further £3.00 per every five minutes thereafter.

LATE PAYMENTS:  Fees are to be paid within 2 weeks of the invoice date.  If you are experiencing financial hardship please speak, in confidence, to the Manager so that alternative payment arrangements can be made.  If without negotiation, fees are not settled, we are left with no alternative but to withdraw your child’s place and if necessary take legal action to recover the amount owed.  Children in receipt of Free Early Education will be unable to access any additional fee-paying hours until outstanding fees are settled.

PAYMENT METHODS: Invoices can be settled by following instructions printed on the invoice. We also accept voucher payments.

    2-year-olds:  Some 2-year-olds may be eligible to receive funding known as the Free for Two Scheme (FF2) which is subject to meeting certain eligibility criteria. Eligible date ranges are shown in the table below.

    3- and 4-year-olds (The Universal Entitlement):  All children become eligible for up to 570 hours per year the term after their third birthday. Eligible date ranges are shown in the table below.

    3- and 4-year-olds of working parents (The Extended Entitlement):  Some children may qualify for up to an additional 570 hours per year which is subject to meeting certain eligibility criteria.

A child is entitled to Free Early Education at the start of the term after their second (if eligible), or third birthday in line with the Department for Education table below:

At Discovery Nursery the Free Early Education hours are offered in the following ways:

  • Up to 570 hours a year can be taken at Discovery as follows:

    Stretched to a maximum of 12 hours a week over 48 weeks. Three sessions per week can be taken:

    9am to 1pm - four hour funded session

    1pm to 5pm - four hour funded session

    (Please note this totals 576 hours and will be capped at 570 hours)

    or

    Term time to a maximum of 15 hours a week over 38 weeks. Three sessions per week can be taken:

    8am to 1pm - five hour funded session

    1pm to 5pm - four hour funded session.

  • Up to 1140 hours a year can be taken as follows:

    Term time to a maximum of 30 hours a week over 38 weeks. Three full days and one-half day per week

    8am to 5pm - nine hours funded session plus £2.50 hot school lunch per day.

    8am to 1pm three hours funded plus £15.10 for two hours childcare and hot school lunch.

    1pm to 5pm - three hours funded plus £6.30 for one hour childcare.

    Fully funded 30-hour places are subject to availability, please speak to the manager.

Children attending non-funded hours/sessions in addition to their Free Early Education will be charged at our current rates as shown in the session table above.  You will be invoiced in the usual way showing how many free hours your child is receiving in that period and what the additional charges are.

Please note that the Free Early Education can be split between 2 providers up to a maximum of 15 hours or 30 hours (if eligible).
